I wish to meet Malala Yousufzai
STORY:5, EDUCATION & LEARNING ARE EYES OF THE MIND: MEETING A GIRL WHO CAN INSPIRE HOPE, IGNITE THE IMAGINATION, AND INSTILL LOVE OF LEARNING: Anwarullah: I want to meet MalalaYousufZai A young boy, Anwarullah, who didn’t see the beauty and realities of the world, was fighting his own battle at the age of 17 years. He had Lung Cancer. Everyday this boy was used to show a great bravery in his own struggle to live one more day. He often faced a lot of difficulty breathing because of this life threatening disease. Despite this fatal illness he was a focused young man for whom studies were his foremost priority. His parents described their son as a determined and focused individual who said that nothing could stand between him and his academic life. When asked why he was so determined to study, Anwarullah said that one day he wanted to become a high ranking officer in the army, with his hard work he got enrolled in the Army Public College MAW foundation decided to visit this shining star and find out what he wished for the most. MAW volunteers were impressed by witnessing the level of intellect he emanated. He was crisp and focused in his conversation and seemed very sure about what he wanted. When he was questioned about his foremost wish, Anwarullah looked visibly excited. His wish was very unusual and was something that no other child had ever wished for. It was not a wish to meet a Bollywood actor or a demand for technological gadgets-he wished to meet Mala Yousufzai. When asked for the reason behind this wish, Anwarullah started narrating the great Malala’s story. He said that Malala is his age and has received so much recognition at such an early age; recognition because of her struggle for education. She fought for her right of education and this led her to receive three bullets from the Taliban. Anwarullah said that he is inspired by her bravery and courage. He is in awe of her because of her ability to cause a stir in the world about the need for equality in a child’s right to be educated. He said that he wants to meet her because she had the honor to meet some great personalities, speak in the UN assembly and the most impressive part; win a Nobel Peace Prize for her struggle for education. MAW volunteers were thrilled by Anwarullah knowledge about Malala. Soon, MAW foundation after great effort was able to setup a meeting between him and Malala in the UK.The MAW Pakistan’s Founder PresidentMirzaIshtiaqBaig traveled with him, it was difficult to breathe for him during flight but IshtiaqBaigtook personal care of his medicines and other stuff. During that visit Anwarullah got to spend an afternoon with Malala. He was thrilled to meet his inspiration. They engaged in heartfelt and meaningful conversations. Malala told him that she was proud of Anwarullah continuing with his education despite of his ill health; to her this was the ultimate form of bravery. She played board games with him and made coffee with her own hands for him. After the meeting Anwarullah, who was visibly in high spirits, told the MAW team that he could not thank them enough because he was returning with high hopes for his future and more courage to continue his efforts in his academic life. He is no more in this world with us now, but his memories are placed here in front of us.
